I save sauce packets, ketchup portions, and condiments I will never use

Condiment hoarding is resource-preservation behaviour. The tiny packets represent free optionality — they cost nothing and might be useful. Discarding them feels wasteful even when keeping them serves no function. The drawer of accumulated sauce packets is a physical monument to optimism that never expires.
